And another thing…
In the name of freedom the Senate voted to grant retroactive immunity to the telephone companies that didn’t bother to ask for a warrant when the government wanted to spy on people. Nice work you fuckers. We didn’t need that 4th Amendment anyway.
And to further protect us, John McCave voted that waterboarding is A-OK. Even though he’s on the record saying that as a POW that was tortured he thought torture was not A-OK. As someone who had been tortured, he would know that it is not a good way to extract stuff from people. I can’t believe in the 21st century there would even be a question over the use of torture.
The specious argument I hate and we heard several times in the past is the “24 defense” for torture. As they had in the Fox News Republican debates last year, it goes something like this: The US captures a bad guy that knows about a future terrorist attack and he’s taking the 5th. So is it OK to torture him to get the information?
The problem with this scenario is it assumes the person being interrogated knows the terror plot. How would we know that he knows? It is possible the motherfucker isn’t talking because he doesn’t know. And inflicting pain and bringing him close to death will result in him telling you whatever you want to here. You would admit to killing Santa Claus if you were being tortured. Just like the women who admitted to being witches did back in Salem.
What the fuck America? It is the year 2008, not 1008.
Here’s your cheatsheet for the upcoming election:

If Clinton becomes the nominee I do NOT promise to vote the party line. She also signed the flag burning amendment. What a swell lady.
c’mon, sprizee. don’t you think she’d be better than mccain?
Kirk, I sure hope you are at happy hour right now …
