Friendly skies
Southwest Airlines made the news in the past week or two because two women were hassled by SWA flight attendants for their “provocative” attire. The photos of both women show their clothes were far from indecent. I couldn’t imagine the prude that thought a miniskirt was offensive. These women dress just like millions of other young women do. I’ve been on many flights on several airlines — especially those landing in Las Vegas — where there are women dressed way more revealing than these women did.
This comes as quite a surprise from the airline that invented sexy stewardesses in hot pants…

The sad thing is that hawt twenty-something woman probably still works as a flight attendant, except now she is one of the bitter old ladies working at American Airlines.
The current Southwest uniform is soccer mom khaki pants [or long inseam shorts] with a blue polo shirt. And apparently some SWA employees want to have their passengers dress that way too. Which is a shame, I thought we were fighting the Taliban so that women could wear whatever they want. Even if it is a little slutty.
What is really strange is before this happened, I remember reading or hearing or seeing [I consume way too much media] someone remark that on Southwest you rarely, if ever, see a disgruntled employee. The people you talk to are generally friendly and helpful and don’t seem to resent you like on other airlines [I'm looking at you American Airlines]. The other blurb I heard was from the co-founder of Southwest saying the most important stakeholder is the employees, the second is customer, and the third is the shareholder. If the employees like their jobs and are happy, the customers will notice and want to fly with them, and then the shareholders will notice because they’re making money. And remember, Southwest has made money consistently over the years which you can’t really say about any other airline.
Tomorrow I’m flying to San Diego for some me time before business meetings on Monday and Tuesday. I’m flying American. I’m guessing I’ll be seated next to a fat man and the flight attendants will be AARP members that completely hate their jobs and take it out on the customers.
bunch of whores. god did not mean for women to wear mini skirts. burkas are really the way to go.
