Friday (I’m in love with)

Alive. Yesterday I started not to feel well. Then it got worse. Then it got worse. This afternoon I found my old bottle of Nyquil I was saving for just such a health event. I just woke up again and discovered I was a little hungry. This is good since I haven’t eaten anything in over a day. I think I’m going to live. And I hope the whole thing is gone before I leave on vacation.

The Domain. The big hubbub in my neighborhood is the Domain opened today. I’m most psyched because it means now I live about 1/2 mile from an Apple Store (yes, Mac people do get a tad excited about the opening of a new store. I was too sick to go and and if I was well, I would have been at work so there’s no pix of me there). Without living in the overpriced apartments at the Domain, I live closest to the shops. The Barneys and Tiffany and the other hotsy totsy stores don’t appeal to my broke fashion challenged ass. But there’s also a Borders. That can be bad for Amazon dot com. There’s also a Sony store. I may need to get another job. There’s a grocery store that will make Whole Foods look cheap. Of course, there’s a Starbucks and a haute Tea place.

In a way it is sad since all of these high-end didn’t fit in with the Austin vibe years ago. Nieman’s and Tiffany are for Houston with those stuck up big haired Dallasites and Houstonites.

I’ve thought about looking into living over there but have heard the rent is nearly 3x what I’m paying now. Granted, I live in a 12 year old building that is not upstairs from Austin’s first Louis Vuitton shop. Of course now the neighborhood is becoming “exclusive” the landlord may want to jack the rent up.
