Don’t ask me, I’m fucked up on cornbread.
I just finished watching the first season DVDs of Weeds, the Showtime dark comedy. I’ve heard good things about it and also caught an episode one time when I was down in Mexico in March so Netflix came. First off, I’ve had a crush on Mary Louise Parker since forever and so it is great just for that. It is well-written and quite funny in that dark way. Not as dark as say Six Feet Under, but still awesome. Completely original. It is about a suburban mom that becomes a dope dealer. There’s PTA meetings and other sundry tasks. Sort of like how on the Sopranos, Tony is a mobster and family shit gets in the way. Any show that has 10 years olds say fuckwad is going to be good with me. The 10 year old kid bites his karate sparring partners and he instead of playing cowboys and indians he plays terrorist and infidel with the girl next door. Kevin Nealon’s dopy CPA is great. And did I mention Mary Louise Parker is hawt in a milfy-licious way?
The trouble is I’m trying to decide if I should subscribe to Showtime to watch season two. I can’t do like some people and wait for the DVD to come out a year later. My cable bill is already equivalent to the car payment on a Kia, another $10 won’t kill me.
