Salsa Verde

El Domingo en Cuernavaca. I’m sitting on the patio enjoying the sounds of a bubbling water feature behind me at the hotel in Cuernavaca. It is out of the way, on the opposite side of town that I was on when I was here in 2004. It is very tranquilo though which was what I was looking for… in addition to AC and Internet. It is about a $25 peso cab ride to the Zócalo and my old stomping grounds of Restaurante Los Arcos. It has a nice seating area outside in the shade and great for people watching. It also has $17 peso beers. The food isn’t great, but it is filling. The nachos I had for lunch today were out-fucking-standing.

I was on a mission to find a restaurant supply place and buy a friend who used to live down here some honest-to-goodness Chiapas coffee beans. They were closed so I walked down to Jardín Borda — a place I never went to last time I was here, but worth the visit today. It is some old rich silver magnate’s estate from the late 18th century turned into museum and garden. Lots of fountains and shade trees and flora and fauna to keep things cool and tranquilo.

My next stop was to actually go inside the church at the Cathedral. Last time it was a wedding. This time they were shooting a movie outside on the street. I didn’t see any real movie stars but the scene I saw had an explosion and then a bunch of cops and soldiers running by. The cars had EU license plates from Spain and the street was dressed with UN flags. So I skipped the church and went and had a few buckets of beer instead.

I’ve posted a few photos to Flickr. The internet tubes are very narrow uploading stuff right now so I will have to do more uploading tomorrow or when I get home. Many of my recent photos are from my phone and of beer bottles. It is tradition.

Tomorrow. This morning before going out to play I decided where/what I want to do tomorrow. I fucked around too long and missed a last-minute deal to Puerto Vallarta for extra cheap. It sucks because this would have been the hotel. So instead I’m off to Acapulco and staying here. Then on Wednesday, I fly to Mexico City and then on home. I didn’t realize when I made the reservation for the trip home I have a 3.5 hour layover in Dallas. Fuckity Fuck Fuck.

I love that Mexican food can be rediscovered every time you eat it, even though there’s only about 5 ingredients. Love your flickr pics…
